1. Restaurant Wally
Hamburgers: the ultimate comfort food. Take your children to Restaurant Wally on the Hertogstraat. Children aren’t the only ones who love these burgers, adults do too! All their ingredients are locally sourced, including the meat, the buns, and the potatoes for the fries. Delicious burgers made with sustainable ingredients and respect for the environment.
2. Beij Ons
Beij Ons on the Daalsedwarsweg has become a household name in Nijmegen. Have a nice lunch or dinner with the whole family. When the weather’s nice, parents can enjoy a cup of coffee in the outdoor seating area as their children play outside in the playground. Inside the restaurant, the kids can enjoy themselves with games and DUPLO: it’s almost like you’re in a regular living room!
3. Eetcafé BUUR
Eetcafé BUUR is the cosy living room of Brakkenstein. BUUR is an eatery, meeting place, and neighbourhood retreat in one. In addition to lunch and dinner dishes and tasty sweets, there’s a menu for children with all kinds of dishes tailored to kids.
4. Hotel NIMMA
Hotel Nimma in Nijmegen-West is a hip, cosy and relaxing spot for breakfast, lunch and dinner with kids. In this hotel, you can find a cosy corner where children can play games. They can also enjoy themselves at the table with, among other things, comics. The menu offers children's burgers, children's spaghetti and children's sandwiches, but also delicious fresh (organic) juices!
5. Arsenaal 1824 Grand Café and Restaurant
In the middle of the city centre, you can find Arsenaal 1824 Grand Café and Restaurant. A catering establishment for young and old: enjoy your lunch or dinner!
6. Pannenkoekenboot Nijmegen
If you’re thinking about eating pancakes while sailing on the Waal river near Nijmegen, then you’re thinking about Pannenkoekenboot Nijmegen at the Waalkade. There’s a ball pit for the kids and you can eat as many pancakes as you can on the boat. That is going to be a treat!
7. Café LUX Nijmegen
Café Lux (Mariënburg) has plenty of dishes for children: a tasty sandwich with jam or apple syrup, for example, a toasted sandwich or fries with bitterballen. Take a seat outside in the outdoor seating area or inside in the café-restaurant. There’s plenty of room to play on the Mariënburgplein in front of the Mariënburgkapel. Tip: the film house is located above it, so you can also catch a movie.
8. BliXem Eetcafé
The real strength of BliXem Eetcafé on the Groesbeekseweg lies in the people, with a great distance from the labour market, who work there. Inside, children can find a fun games cabinet and their daily specials can be ordered in children’s portions.
9. ‘t Hoogstraatje Pannenkoekenrestaurant
Whether you’re looking for sweet or savoury pancakes, you can find delicious pancakes at ‘t Hoogstraatje Pannenkoekenrestaurant on the Hoogstraat. But you can also go there for poffertjes (very tiny pancakes), lunch or a good cuppa.
10. Van der Valk Hotel Nijmegen-Lent
Enjoy a delicious meal with your children at Van der Valk Hotel Nijmegen-Lent (Hertog Eduardplein) thanks to their World Eaters children's menu. This menu has been specially compiled for Van der Valk's youngest guests. With these adventurous and responsible dishes, children are challenged to eat something other than the traditional children's menu. In Stroom Lent’s beautiful building on the Vossenpeltselaan, you can have breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have a special children's menu with tasty dishes like pasta with tomato sauce, fried fish and pizza margherita. Young and old folks feel at home in the indoor spaces and outdoor seating areas.
12. In de Kazerne
In de Kazerne (Molenveldlaan): a beautiful old barracks complex where you can find a cosy family living room, with a toy corner where children can play. They can also enjoy colouring at the table. Additionally, you can relax on the spacious outdoor seating area where children can enjoy themselves with outdoor toys (including football, table tennis, and other outdoor games).
