Up for something new? In Nijmegen you can go on a spree in the oldest shopping district of the Netherlands! In one of the 400 stores you can always find something to your liking. In the Lange Hezelstraat you’ll find beautiful historic buildings and at the Marikenstraat you literally shop at a higher level: at the upper level you’ll find more exclusive stores, at ground level the larger chains!
Next to well-known and popular chain stores you’ll also find a large array of unique boutiques. Streets like the Houtstraat, Van Welderenstraat and In De Betouwstraat have plenty of stores that are bound to excite your shopping senses! And when the weather is bad you can always go to the indoor shopping mall the Molenpoortpassage. Fancy a drink? Nijmegen has the highest density of sidewalk cafes so there’s always a spot for you to relax!

Shops in Nijmegen have long opening hours, also on Sundays. There is a shopping evening in the city centre every Thursday evening until 9 p.m. Check our range of shops to find out whether your chosen shop is open.
Shopping on shopping Sunday
In Nijmegen, every Sunday is shopping Sunday. All shops are allowed to be open on Sunday, with the exception of New Year's Day, Easter Sunday, Whit Sunday and Christmas Day. On a shopping Sunday in Nijmegen, nearly all shops in the core shopping area as well as a large number of shops located in the surrounding shopping streets, are open.
Nijmegen shopping evening
Nijmegen shopping evenings in the city centre feel like fun nights out. The shopping evenings are on Thursdays. The shops in the city centre will remain open until 9 p.m. on those evenings. Around certain holidays, the shops in the centre of Nijmegen will be open for an additional number of evenings. This will give you plenty of opportunities to do your holiday shopping.
