Nijmegen museums

At Museum Het Valkhof you can dive into Nijmegen's Roman past, but also take a look at contemporary art. Museum De Bastei will teach you all there is to know about nature and culture, with a focus on the river. Here, at the Waal river and in the oldest city of the Netherlands, you can almost touch the past, and discover the flora and fauna of the Gelderland river region.

What is it like to be blind or visually impaired? You can read about it or a hands-on expert can tell you about it. But at MuZIEum [translates as muSEEum] you can experience it for yourself. At the muZIEum you can find two darkness experiences and an outdoor experience; a unique guided tour through the Nijmegen city centre.

But there is more in Nijmegen! For instance, visit the Van 't Lindenhoutmuseum, Huis van de Nijmeegse Geschiedenis, Infocentrum WO2 Nijmegen and Fietsmuseum Velorama.

Expositions

Galerie Zeven Zomers is located downtown; with its contemporary art, this gallery is a peaceful oasis in the hustle and bustle of the city. Not far off, Galerie Marzee is located, a gallery with contemporary jewellery. With 850 square meters of exhibit space, Galerie Marzee is the largest gallery for contemporary jewellery art in the world.

RUIS is an exposition space for contemporary art with a focus on the experimental. Galerie Bart is original, gutsy and ambitious. Goal of this gallery is to promote and sell the work of artists who have graduated in the Netherlands, in the (inter)national art scene.
